1. General
LingoClip is an innovative language learning service that helps you learn through music, videos, and song lyrics — in a fun and engaging way.
The LingoClip website and app, available for Apple and Android devices, are owned by Elasthink SL (hereinafter “Elasthink”), a company based in Spain, with tax ID ESB86550514 and registered address at Calle El Hierro 33, Alovera, 19208 Guadalajara, Spain.
At Elasthink, your privacy matters to us. We put all our technical and human efforts into keeping your data safe. We never share your information with third parties, so you can rest assured.
We are fully committed to complying with all applicable data protection laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Elasthink is the data controller for the personal data of users of the LingoClip website and app, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (Regulation EU 2016/679) and other applicable data protection laws, such as COPPA, CCPA, and PIPEDA.
By using LingoClip, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms and Conditions of Use, which you can find here: https://lingoclip.com/terms
To make things easier to understand, this Privacy Policy is available in several languages. If there’s ever any difference between versions, the English version will be the one that legally applies.
Below, we will do our best to describe in detail and in the simplest, clearest way possible what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it, as well as how you can exercise your rights to access, modify, or delete that data.
If you have any questions or need clarification, feel free to contact us at: privacy@lingoclip.com
(This is also the email address for our Data Protection Officer.)
2. User Accounts
You can use LingoClip completely anonymously, without creating an account or providing any personal information.
Although signing up is not required, we recommend it so you can enjoy the full experience, track your progress, and use your account across multiple devices.
You can sign up for LingoClip using your email address by choosing a username and password.
If you prefer, you can also sign up and log in with your Google, Facebook, or Apple account (on Apple devices only), so you don’t have to remember one more password.
2.1 Minimum age and child privacy
LingoClip is not intended for children who have not reached the minimum legal age to have their own email account, as defined by the laws of their country.
This minimum age may vary between 13 and 16, depending on local regulations, such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the United States’ Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If we become aware that an account has been created without the necessary consent, we will delete the account and all associated personal data.
If you’re a parent or legal guardian and believe your child has created an account without your permission, please contact us at privacy@lingoclip.com so we can look into the case.
3. What personal data do we store?
At LingoClip, we don’t ask for sensitive data — only the minimum information needed to identify you and ensure the service works properly. We never use your data for any other purpose, and we will not, under any circumstances, share it with third parties.
Your email address is used to identify you, verify your account, and occasionally inform you about important updates to our terms or about security and privacy matters related to your account. Your email will never be visible to other users.
From time to time, we might also send you promotional offers or discounts to help you get the premium subscription at the best price. And don’t worry, you can stop receiving these emails whenever you like, just by clicking the unsubscribe link.
Username
Pick a name you like — it can be an alias and doesn’t need to be your real name. This is the name that appears on the high score boards, which is the only place other users can see it.
Password
If you create your account using an email address, you’ll need to choose a reasonably secure password to protect your access.
If you sign in with a third-party account like Google or Facebook, you can still set a password later in your account settings. This gives you an alternative way to log in using your email or username.
Country
You can optionally select your country. This lets us show your flag next to your username on the high score boards and lets you filter scores by country.
Date of birth
Some content may not be suitable for children. That’s why, in some cases, we may ask for your date of birth — it helps us protect younger users from inappropriate material.
Profile picture
You can upload a profile picture that will appear next to your username and country on the high score boards.
If you sign up using Google or Facebook, we’ll use your profile picture from that account by default. You can change it anytime in your account settings.
3.1 Activity and progress
Every time you use the service, we save your progress so you can come back to it whenever you like. This includes your current language level (shown when you open the app), a record of every song you’ve played, and your scores — all available in the Activity section of the user menu.
You can also view the vocabulary you’ve completed and the achievements you’ve earned in the Vocabulary and Achievements sections.
3.2 Playlists
You can create your own playlists by selecting your favourite songs and even share them with your friends.
You can also set a goal for your playlists and divide them by levels — a fun and motivating way to challenge yourself or others.
4. User-generated content
You can contribute with us by adding new content through the “My Lyrics” section on our website: https://lyricstraining.com.
All submitted content is carefully reviewed by our editorial team to ensure quality and exclude anything inappropriate.
Lyrics remain the exclusive property of their authors and copyright holders, who may request the removal of their content from the website or app at any time. Users who contribute content do not become its owners under any circumstances.
In 2015, Elasthink signed an agreement with major music publishers authorising the use of their song lyrics on our website and in the app.
Most videos are provided by YouTube through its Embedded Player, with the consent of the authors and copyright holders who allow their videos to be viewed outside of YouTube.com.
Elasthink does not store these videos, either fully or partially, nor does it process any of the data transferred during playback.
If you are the author or rights holder of any lyrics or videos and would like to request their removal or modification, please contact us at: copyright@lingoclip.com
5. Premium Subscription
If you want to play without waiting times and unlock all features without limitations, you’ll need to purchase a Premium subscription.
Payments are handled through the following platforms, depending on your device:
- App Store (for Apple devices)
- Google Play (for Android devices)
- Paddle (for purchases made via our website)
These platforms process the payment securely on our behalf. This means we never have access to your payment details, such as your card number or banking information. They also handle any renewals, cancellations, or refunds directly.
The only information we receive is what we need to activate your subscription, like the selected plan, purchase date, and whether your subscription has been cancelled.
You can find more information in the following links:
6. Where and how is this data stored?
Your data is securely stored in a database hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), in a data centre located in Dublin, Ireland, following industry-leading security standards.
AWS is one of the most trusted providers of cloud infrastructure worldwide, with a solid track record and a highly secure global network.
For more information, you can visit:
https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms

6.1 Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your LingoClip account remains active, unless you choose to delete it or there's an extended period of inactivity, in which case we may remove it for security and legal compliance reasons.
If you delete your account, your data may remain in backup copies for up to 7 days before being permanently erased. This short retention period is only for technical and security purposes, such as restoring the service in case of failure.
If your account remains inactive for more than 2 years, we’ll notify you by email at least 30 days in advance before deleting it. You can prevent this by simply logging in to reactivate your account during that time.
6.2 International data transfers
In some cases, we use third-party services — such as Google Analytics, Paddle, YouTube, or login via Google or Facebook — whose data centres may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
When this happens, we ensure that your data is properly protected using appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), in full compliance with the GDPR and other applicable international standards.
6.3 Security breaches
If a security breach occurs that affects your personal data, we’ll notify you as quickly as possible — and always within the timeframe required by law. When necessary, we’ll also inform the relevant data protection authorities, in accordance with applicable regulations.
7. How can I view, modify, or delete my data?
As a user of the service, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, as well as to restrict or object to certain types of processing, or withdraw your consent at any time — in line with applicable laws such as the GDPR (Regulation EU 2016/679) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
To review or update your personal information, go to the Settings section of your account, accessible from the user menu.
If you want to permanently delete your account and all associated data, you’ll find the Delete Account option at the bottom of that section.
You can also contact us at privacy@lingoclip.com to request any action related to your data.
8. Use of cookies
A cookie is a small piece of data stored on your device by a website to remember things like your preferences or login session.
At LingoClip, we use cookies and similar technologies to store basic information needed for the service to work properly — such as your session ID or language preference.
On our website, we use Google’s cookie consent tool to let you accept or reject non-essential cookies, in compliance with the GDPR and other applicable laws.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the banner shown when you access the site.
For more information about how Google uses your data, you can visit:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
If you prefer, you can also disable cookies in your browser settings — though this may affect the proper functioning of some websites, including ours.
9. IP addresses
We do not store or use IP addresses in any way that could be used to identify an individual user.
Additionally, IP addresses are not always fixed and may be shared by multiple users, so they do not reliably indicate a specific person.
10. Third-party services
At LingoClip, we use the following third-party services to support the core functionality of the platform. They help facilitate user registration and login, enable music content playback, and provide usage analytics to help us improve the service.
10.1 Sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple
As mentioned earlier, you can access the service using your Google, Facebook, or Apple account, without needing to remember a new password.
When you do so, we receive your email address and a unique identifier, which we link to your LingoClip account. This data is used solely to identify you when accessing the service and is not shared with third parties.
In the case of Apple, you have the option to hide your real email address. Instead, Apple generates a “private” relay email address for you. You can find more information about this here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/105078
10.2 YouTube Player
At LingoClip, song lyrics are the core content on which our gameplay is based — a game that consists of filling in the missing words.
The lyrics may be paired with music videos from sources like YouTube or Apple Music (via MusicKit), which greatly enhance the gameplay experience by making it more engaging and immersive.
Most of these videos are provided by YouTube through its Embedded Player, always with the permission of their respective owners and creators.
We do not store or modify the data transmitted during video playback, nor do we alter the player’s interface in any way.
We also use the YouTube Data API to regularly check the availability of the videos linked to the lyrics, helping us keep our content up to date.
In simple terms, an API (Application Programming Interface) is a way of communicating with a software program or service.
For more information, you can refer to YouTube’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy:

YouTube LLC is a subsidiary of Google Inc.
10.3 Apple Music Player / MusicKit (Beta)
As an alternative to YouTube, we’re currently working on integrating Apple Music content through its MusicKit Player. This feature is currently in beta and may not yet be available to all users.
Please note that an active Apple Music subscription is required to use this feature.

10.4 Usage analytics with Google Analytics
To help us understand how users interact with our website and app, and to improve the overall experience, we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Inc.
When using the app, we may assign a unique identifier to your device. This allows us to collect anonymous usage statistics and is never used for advertising, profiling, or identifying individual users.
In addition, IP addresses are anonymised (shortened) to enhance privacy and ensure they cannot be linked to any specific person.
Google Analytics may also use cookies to collect information about how the service is used.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, so we encourage you to review it periodically.
If we make any significant changes, especially those affecting how we handle your personal data, we’ll inform you through a notice in the app or by email.
By continuing to use our service after any updates, you acknowledge and accept the updated privacy policy.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at: privacy@lingoclip.com
